Forum rules - the longer version

This is the longer version of the Forum Rules, for those who are interested in the finer details of Forum participation. As we pointed out in the previous posting, we want to maintain a happy conflict-free website, so please take a few moments to read them.

1. Forum Leaders and Administrators
The Forum Leader’s role is to maintain the forum as well as acting as a mediator when necessary. If you ever have a problem with any of the forums or its members please feel free to email editor@ibys.org. The Administrator, Forum Leaders and IBYS staff reserve the right to delete any post that breaches the rules outlined in this post.

2. Inappropriate language and content
The use of inappropriate or offensive language is not permitted on the IBYS Forum. Inappropriate or offensive language includes, but is not limited to, any language or content that is sexually oriented, sexually suggestive, abusive, harassing, defamatory, vulgar, obscene, profane, hateful, or contains racially, ethnically or otherwise objectionable material of any kind.

Please respect your fellow forum members. Any improper use of language or any form of bullying or harassment may result in a permanent ban.

Topics of discussion that are considered inappropriate on the IBYS Forum will be deleted without prior notification.

3. Member’s names and information
IBYS allows the use of usernames on the forums in place of real names. Please choose your username carefully as it cannot be changed. It is up to the individual to choose their username and to decide how much personal contact information is available to other forum participants. IBYS will only use your contact information for administrative purposes, and will not share it with other members or companies under any circumstances.

Forum members should never post under someone else’s username or have more than one forum account. Users must not post other member’s email address or contact details. Breach of this rule will result in a permanent ban.

Posting your own email address inside a thread is not recommended as it may result in you receiving spam.

If you ever have a problem with any of the forums or its members please email editor@ibys.org.

3. Forum Private Messaging System
All information passing through the private messaging system may legally be viewed by and disclosed to management.

Please be reassured that access is only made to carry out investigations against any complaints/queries where the content of the private messaging can be at risk to this forum.

We would like to remind you that sensitive and confidential information should not be sent via posts or private messaging.

4. Copyright
IBYS does not allow its members to breach copyright on any content, whether it is owned by IBYS or by another company.

It is not acceptable to ask forum members to breach copyright.

Do not upload files or post messages that contain photos, software or other material protected by intellectual property laws, rights of privacy or publicity or any other applicable law unless you own or control the rights thereto or have received all necessary consents. IBYS is not responsible for any use of anything you say or post.

Any posting of computer software, spam, viruses or any other system harmful content will be deleted.

Permission to reproduce or copy any parts of magazines or books for other than private use, must be obtained from the publisher. You can obtain permission by contacting editor@ibys.org.

5. No Ads, No SPAM, No selling
It is acceptable to post products that you wish to buy, sell or swap through the ‘Shed Buy, Sell and Swap’ forum.

However, the Forums are not to be used as an advertising space to sell commercial products or services. This will clog up the forums with advertising material and impede the discussion of serious shed matters.

Please do not post SPAM, adverts, sell products or link to inappropriate products as it will not be tolerated and users will be banned.

IBYS reserves the right to ban a user at any time, without notice, from any or all Forum areas for spamming.

6. Avatars and Images
An Avatar is a small image or photo that represents you. Please do not use images or photos that you do not have the consent from the owner to use. Do not misrepresent yourself by using someone else’s image that may create confusion.

7. Banning
Please be advised that the IBYS web team reserves the right to ban a user at any time, without notice, for breaching the Forum rules.

8. Liability
Forum members are responsible for all of their activities whilst on the IBYS Forums. You are responsible for anything you say or post.

If you want your post removed or would like to bring the Forum Leaders to the attention of a post please email editor@ibys.org.

IBYS is not responsible for anything posted by any member on our forums. We will however, endeavour to keep the board clean and we will act on any breach of the rules.

IBYS does not tolerate any argumentative, derogatory or hurtful remarks regarding companies or individuals. Any such remark deemed unacceptable will be edited or deleted without prior notification.

9. Reporting breach of the rules, bad posts or users
To bring to our attention users who may not be following the forum user rules, please email editor@ibys.org. You must include the forum thread and post number in your complaint.

Please DO NOT post your grievances in this forum or discuss what is acceptable in the forum.

The IBYS online editor will moderate and post the rules as needed.
